Rare Illnesses

A disease or condition is considered rare when it affects 1 person per 2,000.

Grace has essential thrombocytosis - 2.5 in 100,000.

Jen has multiple sclerosis - 1 in 700

Multiple myeloma is 1 in 18,630

Kathy, one of my very best friends has leiomyosarcoma.......less than 200,000 have that. She had a GIST, which is very rare.

I said my parents didn't mix well......but that doesn't explain Kathy.

Grace said it's playing down the Oilies.....but my uncle Frank, a fairly healthy 73 year old said "No way" when I saw him today up at the cottage. He spread his arms in a gesture that said 'look at me!'.

Jen thinks it's the Mystic River bridge.

Do you all have mercury amalgam fillings or did your mother have many fillings? You may all have mercury toxicity.

I did, Grace and Jen didn't. I'll have to ask my mother. She's had false teeth for as long as I can remember.

How do you get tested for that and what's the treatment.
