Stockdale Arrives for Commissioning Ceremony Written by NBVC Public Affairs Wednesday, 15 April 2009 Sailors aboard PCU Stockddale (DDG 106) man the rails April 14 during their arrival at Naval Base Ventura County in preparation for the ship's upcoming commissioning ceremony. Stockdale is scheduled for commissioning April 18 in Port Hueneme, Calif. and will be Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet's newest addition to the destroyer fleet. Destroyers like the Stockdale provide multi-mission offensive and defensive capabilities and can operate independently or as part of carrier strike groups, surface action groups, amphibious ready groups, and underway replenishment groupsdependently or as part of carrier strike groups, surface action groups, amphibious ready groups, and underway replenishment groups.
