OMG, I missed that entirely. That really is funny and worth noting.
Obama was taking a page from the campaign book of John Kennedy in 1960 when the future president delivered his acceptance speech to 80,000 people in the Los Angeles Coliseum. Yes. Absolutely. Democrats emulate the Camelot years in our campaigns, and the GOP always returns to the Reagan era.
Yes, that makes sense, but also, there's sort of a "White House" look to the stage: 18th Century architecture was patterned on the Classical era. Maybe that's a part of the stage design idea, also.
Stella - The thought that Obama is trying to look like JFK is even funnier. I am a great admirer of JFK and RFK. I was raised by a family in a town that revered them. I can't think of anyone who would have laughed harder at this circus that JFK.
Remember, Teddy is not Jack and he is certainly not Bobby.
To watch Caroline in this whole mess has been the saddest part for me. I find it amazing that she could compare Obama, who I consider to be an empty suit, to her father a man of substance. There are only the most superficial similarities between the two men.
I am 63, happily divorced, mother of four, grandmother of three. I am a registered Republican with fiscally conservative views; libertarian social views & ardently supportive of a strong US Military
I was born and raised in Boston and can not conceive of living anywhere else. I think Brian Lamb of CSpan is the sexiest man on TV. If you want my attention, you have to be aggressive and smart and you have to feed my head.
If you want an explanation for the pic, go to this post.
