Sins/Virtues

Ok, this came up in the Gaslighting comments and a few emails. You've all heard of the Seven Deadly Sins............there's even a movie. But there are Seven Virtues as well, to help you balance out your spirituality. The nuns always held out some hope.

The Seven Deadly Sins
Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.
Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.
Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.
Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.
Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.
Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

The Seven Holy Virtues:
Chastity (Latin, castitas) (purity, opposes lust, Latin luxuria) —Courage and boldness. Embracing of moral wholesomeness and achieving purity of thought through education and betterment.
Abstinence (Latin, frenum) (self-control, opposes gluttony, Latin gula) —Constant mindfulness of others and one's surroundings; practicing self-control, abstention, and moderation.
Liberality (Latin, liberalitas) (will, generosity, opposes greed, Latin avaritia) —Generosity. Willingness to give. A nobility of thought or actions.
Diligence (Latin, industria) (ethics, opposes sloth, Latin acedia) —A zealous and careful nature in one's actions and work. Decisive work ethic. Budgeting one's time; monitoring one's own activities to guard against laziness.
Patience (Latin, patientia) (peace, opposes wrath, Latin ira) —Forbearance and endurance through moderation. Resolving conflicts peacefully, as opposed to resorting to violence. The ability to forgive; to show mercy to sinners.
Kindness (Latin, humanitas) (satisfaction, opposes envy, Latin invidia) —Charity, compassion, friendship, and sympathy without prejudice and for its own sake.
Humility (Latin, humilitas) (modesty, opposes pride, Latin superbia) —Modest behavior, selflessness, and the giving of respect. Giving credit where credit is due; not unfairly glorifying one's own self.

How do I do? Well Sloth is a big problem and so is Gluttony, and, well.....Anger, and ummm, well, Lust, lust would be a huge problem, lol. There is only one person on earth I am Envious of.
As far as balancing..............once in a while I have Patience and even more rarely, Kindness..............so I'm screwed.............which is fine 'cause then we're back to lust. I explained all this before when I wrote about the Dante's Inferno Test.....................I was banished to the 8th Ring, The Malebolge (male what? Oh I'm in trouble again).

Certain lax Methodists should take the Dante's Inferno Test (and be completely honest).

Please tell the lovely Mrs. Andi, I said "Hi!" and that I think she is very good to you.

Schnikies! I was put into the seventh level of hell. Do you think it's because I thought of Chris' ex wife when answering a lot of the questions? LOL
