January 14, 1964

Fifty years ago today.

Jacqueline Kennedy thanks the nation for condolence letters.

In the aftermath of the assassination of President Kennedy, people from all over the world wrote to Mrs. Kennedy and her children expressing sympathy and respect. On January 14, 1964, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy appeared on television with Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and Senator Edward M. Kennedy to thank the nation for the condolence letters she and her children received, and to let the public know that their letters would reside at President Kennedy's presidential library.
