Maggie,

An even better product is the "Rite in the Rain" notebook series. You can find them on ebay in the "collectibles, militaria" section, and at other online sites.

These notebooks come in either tan or green, and have a standard grid pattern on the paper so you can write or draw scale maps, drawings, etc.

To top it off, they are waterproof, so you can use them in all climates. they have 50 sheets or so, and are spiral bound. Very handy notebooks, and around the same price as the "Field Notes" ones.

I picked these out and am absolutely obsessed. Though as a giveaway from a non-profit we have to mind our pennies...and Field Notes helped us with that...

I am planning on writing escape routes and names of lost lovers.

Good to know about Rite in the Rain, the waterproof makes it so much better
