The Rewards of Blogging

I've actually had people thank me for blogging things. Most recently, the MCPON.

And I am always astonished. Because blogging has brought much more into my life than I could ever imagine.

Especially the people I meet.

Recently, someone.... a stranger.... emailed me. We have some mutual connections. He asked some questions, I asked some questions.

Now he's not a stranger and I look forward to these emails.

So this weekend which I am sooooooo looking forward to because of a few things.....we will have dinner.

Lately I have been so stressed.
Work.
Finances.
The car is in the shop - AGAIN. I lost the power steering on the Mystic River bridge yesterday and scared the bejesus out of myself.
My Dad and his stroke.
Visiting my Godfather who is on Hospice care.

Not to mention that Dr. Miller's people will be on my case soon because I cancelled their appointment in the immediate aftermath of my Dad's stroke. They haven't seen me in months and they are getting very anxious. Don't worry, I have no symptoms of the myeloma. I have nothing except for the damage from chemo

Anyway, this person has been a fabulous distraction.

So I think we will call him SOS.

Do you spend much time on the north shore, Maggie? Salem, Marblehead, Rockport, Gloucester, and Newburyport are 5 of my favorite towns EVER!!

I love Salem.

Once when I was in 8th grade the nuns brought us to a convent up on a huge hill in Gloucester. The views were spectacular. We stayed the weekend and I enjoyed every minute.

Maggie, I am so sorry about your dad's stroke and your Godfather. Please email me if you need to "talk." I have no symptoms of the myeloma. I have nothing except for the damage from chemo Dr. Miller will get over it. There are few tougher people I've "met." Please keep me apprised of how you are doing.

I, too, want to thank you for your comments. Many of "us liberals" are glad you've come by and shared your perspectives. I think your wisdom woke up a lot of people who tend to group others and paste characteristics on a mass that commonly don't belong to individuals. I always admire those who support their opinions intelligently and factually. My comment about you? "She shoots from the hip, and has good aim." We could use more of that in this world.

Since you and Will are mentioning your favorite places in Massachusetts, I've heard Mystic River is magnificent, but I've always loved Salem and downtown Boston. It's close by, so I have to mention Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

I posted a response to the retired officer who was kind enough to drop by. I hope to see him again, and reassured him that I don't know a single liberal that likes Nancy Pelosi: looks like conservatives and liberals CAN agree on some things. On behalf of California, I apologize.

It's a start..

Maggie,
I dropped by to mention something you might be interested in and I saw you are having some family suffering.
I'm very sorry to hear this.I hope your father recovers best he can, God's will be done as well as your Godfather. Any health issues you have I hope are passing and you will be ok.

What I was gonna mention, I'm making a totally biased assumption from your association with Boston and mention of Mystic River that you're Irish. If you are,or are interested in things Irish, I wrote something about the St Patricks Day Battalion who fought on the Mexican side in the Mexican-American War you might enjoy which I posted on MadMikesAmerica last night.

Take things slow and easy,

Moderates don't like Pelosi, either. LOL

The Berkshires (Great Barrington, Lennox, Stockbridge, etc.) and the Pioneer Valley (Amherst, Northampton, Deerfield, etc.) are 2 other nice sections of MA. Are you familiar with these spots, ladies?

Oso - My Dad is actually doing extremely well consider what happened.

You other two....then who is voting for Pelosi???? It must be voter fraud. Whoever it is comes to Boston to vote for Ted Kennedy (I don't personally know anyone who voted for him and I know lots of Democrats) and then they pack up, take advantage of the time difference to go to CA and vote for Pelosi.

Wiil? Are you trying to lure me west until I'm on top of CT and then you will come out and meet me?

I was just in Newburyport (twice) and Gloucester this summer. Do you ever come to western MA? Northampton absolutely rules!
