Credit Where Credit is Due - BZ Bill Clinton!

Betcha nevah thought you'd see that here!

I can't imagine what it's like to be held captive by that loon Kim Jong Il, facing prison time.

I can't imagine what it's like to know that only one man can get you out.

I can't imagine what it's like to walk into a room and see that man.

Bill Clinton was that man. He didn't want to be there - it's clear from the look of absolute distaste on his face. He could have said no, it was risky. After all, he's not running for anything ever again. Plus it's true, Kim Jong Il could could have kept him or killed him.

But he went. He totally stepped up to the plate and delivered.
"Bill Clinton meets with NKorean leader Kim Jong Il"

As a fellow American I am proud and grateful.

I am not sure about this whole thing.

The biggest problem I have is both of these journalists entered NK illegally and should then be held accountable by the country who's law they broke. Shame on me but I thing those who enter the US illegally should be held accountable also - I'm a radical :)

Both journalists worked for Al Gore’s TV Current, an on-line journal based in San Francisco - would Bill have gone to their rescue is they worked for Fox?

My Mother-in-law is here for a couple of weeks, I'm cranky.

Kim specifically requested Billy Jeff because he got all kinds of freebies from us during the Clinton years.

Food, to keep his army from starving and possibly initiating a coup.

Oil, which he turned around and sold on the world market for hard currency to keep his regime afloat.

*Missile* technology. Ask the South Koreans and Japanese how happy they are with Clinton.

The nuclear reactor Jimmy Carter promised Kim didn't pan out, but that wasn't Clinton's fault -- the damn American public found out about it and squawked...

Tom - I know....we all saw you hiding in the commissary.

Bill - Doesn't matter why Kim picked him. Point is, he went.

Maggie, you are an extremely gracious person.

I respected GW when he declared the Mariana Trench sanctioned as an environmentally protected area. I was also surprised to learn that he did a great deal to help Africa, amd refused to comment on any actions on this administration.

Fascinating comment thread, too.

Heh. Kim is a *huge* Billy Jeff fan.

It didn't take any more courage for Clinton to go to see Kim than it would take you to hit the deck of the Constitution for a meeting with the CNO.

Listen, my Darling Chief.....if you are going to start comparing me to crazy Kim.....

Yeah, Maggie good point.

I'm no Clinton fan, but I have something to add.

Bubba went. I can see Jimmy Carter going. But, can any one see George Bush going?

(Sorry, jist had to say what was on my mind.)

Sorry Maggie, I agree with the guys here. Clinton gave how much $$ to NK so they could continue their nuke program? Yeah I know, that wasn't what the money was supposed to be for, but that's where it went. Thanks Jackass! And I'd say the same thing had it been any President who did such a thing. He gets no kudos from me now when Kim requests him. I also believe that Al Gore should have to repay the taxpayers whatever it cost us to get HIS employees back. They were not acting on behalf of our govt in any capacity, they were working for HIM.

I know Clinton gave Kim cash, but that in no way secured safe passage. After all, the Chinese send them food....and Kim keeps the trains.

Vig - You're comically off base. "W" would have gone in a heartbeat even though he would have been in much more danger. I believe that with all my heart.

Mrs. Diva - Concur Gore should get the bill.

The Klintons have never done anything for this country, only for themselves - what will this Hollywood catered affair cost us, the American people...
