There's Really Nothing To Be Said

What happened Friday night has overwhelmed the weekend. We will mourn and be hurt for a long time. We are haunted by memories of Operation Redwings.

I've been on Twitter, retweeting supportive words about the incident, the SEALs and the other service members (1st I heard US Army, but now they may be National Guard) lost in this tragic incident.

I couldn't watch any of my Sunday morning talk shows for fear some politician would say something assinine and I would smash a TV.

Jeff Emmanuel says "The questions arising from the Afghan tragedy are (1)natural, & (2)highly reflective of influence media & H'wood have on public information"

He's 100% correct, but jeez it's still aggravating. Why wasn't America paying more attention to our military before this? Why are the asking stupid questions and saying stupid things.

Yeah, I know my view is completely unrealistic. But I'm so angry. Sure I'm angry at the Taliban, but that's war. I expect the Taliban to try and sometimes succeed. But my fellow Americans should be better than some of the shit I've seen on Twitter.

And I'm equally as angry about the "great Americans" who are posting on facebook asking everyone to pray for the families of the 31 Heroes. I never see most of these "great Americans" asking us to pray for those lost day after day. You know, "just" the single Soldier, Airman, Marine or Sailor who never makes the "news" because it's not "news".

The same "great Americans" who don't lift a damn finger to support our military, Veterans, Wounded and their families.

Bastards. All of them.

I'm intersted in books/studies about the increasing cilivian-military divide. My husband is active duty and I get so angry with everyone from locals who make snide remarks about how much they think we make at the hardware store, to even things family members say. It's difficult and I don't see it improving. Then the locals wonder why we only socialize with each other...

That's the beauty of social media. You have the rest of us Josephine!

I am not "married to the military", just a civilian who "gets it".

How true BostonMaggie. You have a great blog too - I love reading it!

There are a lot of great cilvians out there, it's just easy to get annoyed with the general public. It's that 90% that's the problem!
