Logan Act

Logan Act

Logan Act

For Christ's Sake, can't someone charge this jackass under the provisions of the Logan Act?

Jimmy Carter Defends Meeting With Hamas

"President Carter is a private citizen. We respect his views," Stephen Hadley, President Bush's national security adviser, said Sunday on ABC.
"The position of the government is that Hamas is a terrorist organization and we don't negotiate with terrorists. We think that's a very important principle to maintain," Hadley said. "The State Department made clear we think it's not useful for people to be running to Hamas at this point and having meetings."
Carter demurred.
"I feel quite at ease in doing this," he said. "I think there's no doubt in anyone's mind that, if Israel is ever going to find peace with justice concerning the relationship with their next-door neighbors, the Palestinians, that Hamas will have to be included in the process."

Who cares if you feel at ease? It is not your place to negotiate with terrorists.

  1. Excellent move Jimmy. I support your private diplomatic initiative without reservation. Let's see: wasn't the Hamas leadership elected? I recall it was. Fair winds and following seas, Man!

  2. Of course, like true lib you are, you advocate breaking the law when it suits you.

You know, according to my favorite President, John Adams we are "A government of laws and not of men". Carter is dead wrong even if you believe in his ultimate goal. I can't imagine anyone supporting him unless they are also anti-semitic.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you are merely being a shit-disturber. Especially since you threw the Navy salutation in at the end. It's not funny.

Up to now I have allowed dissenting comments from you because I have no problem with dissent. However, your comments are slipping slowly but surely into the realm of trolls.

This comment did not move the discussion forward. It appears that you merely want to agitate and I am not in the fucking mood for that.

    So, think about it.

  3. Maggie,

    1. I am not a troll.
    2. I am not a Liberal. I am a Progressive. There is a difference.
    3. I am a sailor, although not obviously your type.

You're too sensitive. Try chocolate, might stabilize you.

You can dish it out, but you can't take it. Don't expect me back.

  4. 1. I didn't say you were a troll, I said your comments (which are growing increasingly beligerent and nonsensical) are veering that way.

    2. IMO, liberals and progressives are the same things, they just think one sounds better than the other. However, I will go read the link when I have the chance.

    3. I'll concede.

I don't know what you mean about dishing it out. I have never gone to your place and been belligerent or condescending, as I feel yours are increasingly becoming.

Ex-President Carter is planning to break the law. You are advocating for it. Ex-President Carter, nor any other citizen has the right to a "private diplomatic initiative".

AS for whether I am *too sensitive* or not.....here at my place that's my call.

  5. I believe Carter does have the right to "private diplomatic initiative" normally. In fact it was once encouraged for Americans to act as ambassadors to their nation. However, this private diplomatic initiative is breaking the law so he does not have that right in this case.

Still, who is stopping him? Being permitted to break the law says a great deal about the weakness of that law.

  7. Carter has never had good judgement. A quick tour of the Carter Center here in Atlanta will remind you of that...
