Today In History

March 20th.........there are lots of choices........but what was the most important?

Was it.....
In 1852, when Harriet Beecher Stowe's anti-slavery novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was published?
Hmmmmm

Was it.....
In 1916, when Albert Einstein published his theory of relativity?
Hmmmmm

Was it.....
In 1922, when the United States Navy commissioned the USS Langley (CV-1), the Navy's first aircraft carrier?
Hmmmmm

Was it.....
In 1896, when Marines land in Nicaragua to protect US citizens?
Hmmmmm

Was it......
In 1995, when 12 people were killed and more than 5,000 made ill by a nerve gas attack on the Tokyo subway system.
Hmmmmm

Was it.....
In 1942, when Gen MacArthur vowed "I shall return."?
Hmmmmm

NO!
It was 1961, silly! Now, give me a present. Read the post below and go over to Anthony's and make a donation.

You may appreciate a visit to the photo album site (http://community.webshots.com/user/tetvet68). There you may view my photo tributes to my father. In the 1920s he flew in USS LANGLEY.

He is one hundred three (103) year old, 'Navy Centenarian Sailor', former Aviation Chief Radioman (ACRM, Combat Aircrewman) later wartime commissioned Chief Warrant Officer Julio 'Jay' Ereneta, USN (Ret.), veteran of World War One and World War Two. He first flew aircrewman in August 1922. In the 1920s/1930s, Ereneta flew rearseat Radioman/Gunner in air squadrons of the Navy's first aircraft carriers, USS LANGLEY (CV-1) and USS LEXINGTON (CV-2).

You may also view there, America's oldest Medal of Honor recipient, living his ninety-eighth (98th) year, former Aviation Chief Ordnanceman (ACOM), later wartime commissioned Lieutenant John W. Finn, USN (Ret.). Finn is also the last surviving Medal of Honor, 'The Day of Infamy', Japanese Attack on the Hawaiian Islands, Naval Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Territory of Hawaii, 7 December 1941.
