Always Open All Of Your Mail

I get lot's of stuff in the mail that I don't recognize right off the bat. I attend some pretty diverse lectures. I recieve mailings from the Cambridge Forum, Ford Hall, the Bostonian Society, the Massachusetts Historical Society, the Republican party, local public television and radio sponsored events. But still I was surprised to see something from Anti-Defamation League, New England Region. I flipped it over and there was the Cardinal.....perplexing! Well, he's not my favortite person in light of the parish closings and his treatment of my pastor....so I was about to flip it into the trash..........when for some reason I opened it. The event the mailing was promoting was the Tishler Confronting Anti Semitism Award. This award recognizes the "everyday heroes" who speak out against anti-Semitism, whose actions resonate far beyond their own communities and whose beliefs and principles are examples for us all. This years winner?

One of my absolute favorite people in the world -

Father Daniel Mahoney, St. Francis de Sales, Charlestown, MA!!!!

Way to go Father! I will be there to celebrate this award with you. To cheer long and loud. You deserve this and every other possible good thing.

Lesson - open all your mail.

  1. Nice story about Fr. Mahoney. Alot of name dropping at the beginning of the post.

  2. When priests defend Israel, it makes me feel better about all the other 'issues' we have in the American Catholic Church. Now I have to do some more research too make sure I understand where Ft Mahoney stands on other issues. That's an oxymoron isn't it? No priest should have political views, correct? I wish the ones in my church did not. Great post.

    Thanks Maggie
